OVERVIEW

The Pre-Conference Writing Retreat brings together scholars in a focused and collegial environment, offering dedicated writing time alongside structured one-to-one mentoring and opportunities for collaboration. The retreat takes place immediately prior to the Consumer Culture Theory (CCT) Conference.

While the retreat is open to all researchers with an interest in CCT, it is primarily aimed at mid-career scholars. Participation is free of charge.

19:00 – Welcome dinner (optional)

Monday, June 29, 2026

10:00 – 10:30: Settling in, introductions, and goal setting

10:30 – 11:30: Writing session 1

11:30 – 12:00: Break

12:00 – 13:30: Writing session 2 (optional mentor meeting in final 30 minutes)

13:30 – 14:30: Lunch

14:30 – 16:00: Writing session 3 (optional mentor meeting in final 30 minutes)

16:00 – 16:30: Break

16:30 – 18:00: Writing session 4 (optional mentor meeting in final 30 minutes)

18:00 – 18:30: Reflection on goals and planning for Day 2

9:30 – 10:00: Goal (re)setting through walk and talk

10:00 – 11:30: Writing session 5 (optional mentor meeting in final 30 minutes)

11:30 – 12:00: Break

12:00 – 13:30: Writing session 6 (optional mentor meeting in final 30 minutes)

13:30 – 14:30: Lunch

14:30 – 16:00: Writing session 7 (optional mentor meeting in final 30 minutes)

16:00 – 16:30: Wrap-up, review of goals, and planning next steps

16:30 – Walk to Welcome Reception

Registration

To manage capacity and ensure the smooth running of the retreat, participation is capped at 40 participants. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
